I am absolutely at my wits’ end with this and I’m hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction, because I have run out of ideas completely.
The problem:
Everything audio wise works perfectly, crystal clear, zero issues until the moment I launch OBS Studio.
The second OBS opens, all audio through my GoXLR becomes heavily choppy, stuttering, distorted and unusable system wide.
It happens whether OBS is idle, on the home screen, previewing, recording or streaming it doesn’t matter.
Close OBS, and within 2–3 seconds audio is flawless again.
This only started happening recently, it was rock solid for ages before.
What makes this so confusing:
I want to point the finger at the GoXLR.
BUT the GoXLR works 100% perfectly, all day long, at every sample rate, with every other app, games, Spotify, Discord, YouTube, everything UNTIL OBS opens.
No other software causes this at all. It is literally only OBS triggering it.

I have spent easily 15+ hours on this now and I’m completely stuck.

EVERYTHING I have already tried / ruled out:
- Swapped GoXLR to every USB 2.0 / 3.0 / 3.2 port on the PC, front and back, different controllers, no hubs no change
- Matched all sample rates everywhere: Windows, GoXLR app, OBS all locked to 48 kHz 16bit, nothing set to 44.1 or anything else
- FULL, complete Windows reinstall from scratch, wiped drives, fresh install, latest updates
- Clean OBS install, removed all profiles/scenes/plugins, tested in Safe Mode, blank scene collection still broken
- Updated everything: chipset drivers, GPU drivers, motherboard BIOS
- Updated USB controller drivers, weirdly this seemed to fix it completely for about 2–3 days, I thought I’d won… and then today it has returned exactly as bad as before
- Disabled audio enhancements, exclusive mode, power saving on all USB root hubs
- Tried running OBS as admin / NOT as admin
- Tried older stable versions of OBS and older GoXLR drivers
- No new hardware, no new software installed around the time it started
